When people who know their astrology think of romance, the first planet that usually comes to mind is Venus. Venus in Leo is normally a fairly good placement for making happy connections with others and for generally boosting romantic pursuits.
Unfortunately, the problem with Venus in Leo this week is that it spends almost the entire time within a degree of the Sun. Any planet within a degree of the Sun tends to get a little drowned out by solar energy — especially if it’s in Leo. Since the Sun rules Leo, you can think of this as “the Sun overwhelming the energies of Venus.” That’s not inherently terrible, but there are some special considerations this week that might make romance more difficult than it seemingly ought to be. Then again, there are also some very good things happening to the Sun and Venus this week. But also, difficult stuff. You confused yet? Good. Read on.
Let’s start with the good news…
Sun trine Jupiter and Sun trine Venus are exact on Wednesday and Thursday, and that energy spreads throughout the entire week. Jupiter in Sagittarius is already an excellent influence for things like parties and adventure and fun in general, which are all elements that can lay the groundwork for new love or boost an existing relationship. Furthermore, although Jupiter is retrograde until the end of the week, a slow planet is a powerful one — and since Jupiter rules Sagittarius, it’s pretty powerful to start with.
Great news, right? Hold on, there’s bad news this week too…
The week’s love potential is being seriously messed with by Saturn. While the trine to Jupiter is making things all fun-loving and joyful, Sun quincunx Saturn and Venus quincunx Saturn are also casting shadows over the week. All the potential for fun and games promised by Jupiter is likely to be undone (or at least diminished) by Saturn’s need to put a chill on things and make you eat your lima beans before you get any dessert.
The overall effect is that on the one hand, everything is mostly going to feel good, and your love life is more likely to produce good news than bad. However, if you’re expecting to cement a current relationship into a more solid form, you might find that the seeds you plant simply don’t take root. In other words: Any new relationship you try to start this week is likely to be more of a good time than a long time.
My advice? If you want to start something new, hold off until Sunday or (better yet) Monday. Otherwise — have fun while things last.
